At BalanceNorth we offer a variety of pilates classes which are suitable for a pilates novice or beginner up to an advanced level.

Our experienced instructors come from a variety of backgrounds and pride themselves on ensuring everyone has a fulfilling class experience.

Mat Pilates has been around for decades and focuses on core-strengthening and stability or the “powerhouse of the body” as Joseph Pilates called it. Strength and stability is integral for athletes and sports-people which is why Pilates is a very popular resource used by professional sports-people. Celebrities who have been very vocal about their beneficial Mat Pilates practice include LeBron James, Madonna and David Beckham.

We offer a range of mat pilates classes which are described below.

Pilates Mat (Full Body)

Our Pilates Mat (Full Body) classes are suitable for all levels of fitness, and provide a whole-body workout. Our instructors use small pilates equipment to create interesting, fun and challenging exercises that are ever changing.

Pilates Mat (Body Burn)

Take it up the extra notch! This mat-based class builds upon what you have learnt in our Full Body class, and is designed to challenge your technique with more complex sequencing. This is a fun and faster paced class that will assist with fitness, flexibility and strength.

Pilates Mat (Strength + Stretch)

A moderate-paced Pilates mat class designed to build strength, flexibility, and control. Our instructors will focus the first half of the class on a range of exercises to build strength, with the second half of the class focusing on stretching your muscles. This class includes options to use light hand weights and props. Suitable for all levels of fitness, our instructors will always ensure they provide a great all-body work-out.

Pilates Mat Pre/Post Natal

A mat-based pilates class focusing on strengthening the full body, as well as focusing on breathing, relaxation and meditation. A perfect way to stay calm, healthy and happy during and after pregnancy. Our instructors may use props such as bolsters, blocks and chairs.

Pilates Mat (Centre Balance)

A slower-paced Pilates mat class designed to build flexibility whilst focusing on balance and control. Suitable for all levels of fitness, this is a great class for those interested in learning pilates principles of connecting mind, body and spirit, or if you’re choosing to go at a slower pace.

Lunch-Time Pilates Classes

These classes are a great way to break up your WFH day with exercise and a break from your prolonged sitting posture at your computer and give your mind a break from constant tasks or deadlines. These express classes are designed to fit into your lunch-break and can be done from the comfort of your home. Our class focuses on relaxing the body through breath-work and flexibility in combination with targeted exercises to ensure we get a muscle burn and exercise endorphin release.

Physio Group Exercise (Clinical Pilates)

Our physio group exercise classes are small class groups of maximum four participants led by physiotherapists Physio-led group exercise classes are claimable with your private health insurance cover. Learn more here.

reformer pilates

Reformer Pilates is done using the Pilates reformer machine and is generally more intense and more dynamic than mat based Pilates. At BalanceNorth, we are use Allegro 2 reformers. The machine adds resistance to the Pilates exercises via the use of the springs which form part of the machine. We offer a variety of classes, outlined below.

Pilates Reformer ABT

Pilates reformer workout focusing on abs, butt and thighs (ABT). This fun and energetic class is designed to tighten ad tone these specific areas. All fitness levels will love this class.

Pilates Reformer Essentials

Our Essentials class is suitable to all levels of fitness. This class uses the reformer machine and is designed to focus on alignment, posture and technique. This is a great class to learn fundamental pilates principles, or if you’re choosing to go at a slower pace.

Pilates Reformer Open

Reformer Pilates is suitable for all levels of fitness. This class is our open level class using the reformer machine. It is designed to focus on alignment, posture and technique. Our instructors will offer progressions and regressions in each class. Take it at a slower pace and you will still feel the challenge.

Pilates Reformer Strength + Stretch

Pilates Stretch + Chill

A reformer-based pilates class designed to improve the way you move and your flexibility, with some great muscle toning thrown in for good measure. Suitable for all levels, this class has a slower pace and will help you stretch and unwind.
