Matthew is an experienced couple’s counsellor and provisional psychologist who has worked in private practice and community settings. He has extensive experience working with neurodivergent clients, and is trained in Gottman therapy, where he specialises in helping couples improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthening connection.
Matthew also has a special interest in trauma-informed approaches such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to support clients experiencing complex trauma, PTSD, and anxiety. Matthew tailors his therapeutic interventions to each client’s needs and preferences, primarily drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
He centres his work on empowering individuals to cultivate greater self-awareness, supporting them in building the foundations for a fulfilling and flourishing life.
Matthew is also engaged in higher education as a sessional academic and Honours-level psychology tutor at the Cairnmilla Institute. He is deeply committed to advancing mental health awareness and promoting psychological wellbeing in the broader community.
